Pastor's Message for Advent into Epiphany
A Season of Awaiting and Fullfillment
By the time you read this you will have celebrated your day of thanksgiving – feasting with family or friends, at home or at a restaurant. Or relaxing and giving thanks in some other way.
This Year Advent begins the Sunday after Thanksgiving Day.
Our first Sunday of Advent will lift up Hope- the hope of the coming of the messiah and the Hope that Christ has brought and the hope that we can bring to others. Just for fun, I invite you to wear green for Hope on November 27.
The Second Sunday of Advent is Peace Sunday – How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of the one who brings the gospel of peace. Let’s wear a rainbow of colors – bright and beautiful!
The Third Sunday we will remember the Joy of the coming of Emmanuel – Let’s sing and celebrate the coming King wearing Royal Purple!
The Fourth Sunday we will celebrate the Love of God who sent us his own son and the love of the earthly parents who gave him life and home, wearing the Red of the heart!
December 25th is Christmas Day! A Sunday – We will Rejoice with the Angels and shepherds, Mary and Joseph, the Innkeeper and the entire world at the Birth of our Savior. Wear all the colors of the season!
January 1 is a Sunday, too! New Year’s Day – what a great time to for a New Start in Christ Jesus! We will rememberthe prophets Anna and Simeon in the Temple when baby Jesus was brought to be dedicated. Wear Silver or White!
January 8 we will follow the Magi as they Guide Us to the home of the young Savior. There was may offer our lives in worship and honor to Jesus the King with the Magi on Epiphany Sunday! Wear Gold or Yellow to remember the gifts the
wise men brought.
